POSITION TITLE: Finance & Administration Manager

DEPARTMENT: Administration                                   EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time

REPORTS TO: General Manager                                FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PAY RATE:  $60,000/year                                           SHIFT/HOURS 1 shift, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week

LOCATION: Business Office (Ashland) and Mt. Ashland

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Finance & Administration Manager manages financial, administrative, and human resource functions. This includes assisting the General Manager with budget preparation, conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports, developing and maintaining an effective system of accounting, managing the payroll system, and maintaining accurate financial records. The position is also responsible Human Resources through specialized staff, which includes management in functional areas such as employee relations, training and development, benefits, Human Resource Information System (HRIS), executive administration, and compensation. The position collaborates with other management team members and is subject to working additional hours, including callback, without additional compensation.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and update accounting procedures for the organization.
  • Ensures the accurate preparation of invoices, checks, account statements, payroll reports, and general ledger accounts with various registers; extracts general ledger information; compiles cost revenue reports, budgets, and balance sheets; ensures the accurate reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Assists the Treasurer with the preparation and analysis of reports.
  • Conducts financial analysis to assist with business decisions including price-setting, determining operating schedule, and staffing.
  • Coordinate with department managers to ensure compliance with the operating budget; create budget modification plans as needed.
  • Ensures details of business transactions are correct, such as funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
  • Monitors loans, accounts payable, and receivables to ensure current payments.
  • Develop and maintain regular accounting reports through the company’s accounting system.
  • Ensures periodic and as-needed inventory of office equipment, supplies, fixed assets, and goods.
  • Supervise the Human Resource Department, including maintaining the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), managing and administering the employee benefits program, and managing department staff.
  • Develops and manages employee relations for the organization.
  • Performs Executive Administration functions, including contract negotiation and administration, calendar management, internal and external communications, and project management.
  • Serves as staff advisor to the Finance Committee, coordinates the activity of volunteers, and attends meetings of the Board of Directors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Formal Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Two years of business experience or experience in accounting and human resource functions are required.

Knowledge

  • Working understanding of accounting practices and principles and application of GAAP for nonprofit accounting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Quickbooks accounting software.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • General knowledge of requirements for CPA to prepare financial statements, 990, and other reports.
  • Working knowledge of benefit plans.
  • Knowledge of current labor and OSHA regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work requires little physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job. The job requires sitting for long periods of time, with an occasional need to stoop, kneel or crouch.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment. Work involves intermittent to occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements.  This position will vary in work location; it is primarily based out of the business office located in Ashland, OR but also requires occasional work at the ski area.

Compensation and Benefits

All Mt. Ashland salaries are set according to a framework in comparison to industry-standards.  The starting salary for this position is $60,000 per year.  Mt. Ashland offers a supportive work culture at a landmark of southern Oregon, health care options, and annual leave for all full-time employees, in addition to paid holidays.  This position is eligible for a complimentary season pass, and discounted dependent passes, as well as other employee benefits.  Winter work schedules generally coincide with ski operations, and summer work schedules often follow the 4-10 format.
