This year's “Keep Mt. Ashland Clean & Green Day” is Saturday, July 31st, 2010. During this event the public is invited to come to the mountain to pick up litter on the ski/snowboard runs. Volunteers should be at the mountain by 8:45am. All volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, good hiking boots, work gloves, and long sleeved shirts.
Mt. Ashland transports volunteers to the top of the mountain via the scenic back road and supplies each volunteer with garbage bags. After the first walk down the mountain, we take a water break at the bottom of Ariel chair, then ride the chair back up to the top of the mountain. We then walk the runs to the lodge and Mt. Ashland provides a free lunch. The event is over after lunch.
It's a fun day in the summer mountain air with friends and a great way to see the runs we normaly only see covered with snow. Many families take this opportunity to provide a "giving back" model for their children, while having fun walking the ski runs.
